The Golden Eagle Wrestling Club finished their Folkstyle season at the largest wrestling event in the rocky mountain region. There were approximately 3000 wrestlers of 611 teams from 37 states and a few wrestlers from Canada. Rocky Mountain Nationals is a fun, grueling tournament that pairs some of the top wrestlers from the country in a three-day event that culminates with state champions versus state champions.

Golden Eagle Wrestling Club sent 21 wrestlers to this tournament and their wrestlers did exceptionally give the difficulty of this tournament. Overall, the Golden Eagles scored 127 team points coming in 3rd Place overall losing out on the “All-Star” Team trophy to Team Kansas. Team Kansas is all High School State Placers and is definitely an “All-Star” team. They came in 2nd Place in the All-Star Teams (Open Wrestlers, Rookies, and/or Girls). Team Montana took first place overall. None-the-less, they accomplished great things. The Golden Eagle Wrestlers placed top 10 in all teams in total match points scored, fastest pins/tech falls, and most pins.

They  had two wrestlers compete  on the “Main Stage” for their title matches. Lance Alexander came up short in his championship match. However, Cooper Torpy won his championship match, claiming his 3rd National Championship this season (Wild West, Who’s Bad, and Rocky Mountain Nationals) and achieving Rocky Mountain National’s Rookie of the Year Belt.

Henry McDoniel took 2nd place losing out on his chance at the coveted Triple Crown award and Tri-State Belt. He did bounce back to beat a Rumble in Reno & Rocky Mountain National Champion (HWT) in his final match. Overall, they had 3 champions with five wrestlers in the finals. In addition, they had two wrestlers wrestle back from the consolation bracket to achieve True 2nd claiming third and then beating the loser of the championship match! All-in-all, they had 12 placers at this very tough tournament.
