Tyson Reiner will become the Golden Eagle Wrestling Club's second head wrestling coach. Tyson comes to us from the Colorado School of Mines where he served as an assistant coach from June 2015-March 2020. Coach Tyson has 10 years of college coaching experience at Division II and III levels. He was an assistant at two of the top programs at the Division III level; Warburg College and St. Cloud State University. His coaching statistics include a 139-21 Dual Meet Record, 37 College All-Americans, 8 National Champions, and 70 Academic All-Americans. In addition, Coach Tyson was a coach for 2 NCAA National Team Championships, 5 NWCA National Dual Team Championships 3 NCAA National Runner-Up Team Finishes, and 7 Conference Team Titles.
As a college athlete, Coach Tyson wrestled at the University of Northern Iowa where he was a 2x qualifier for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. In addition, he was a Western Wrestling Conference champion at 157 lbs. with two runner-up finishes. During his college career, he was a two-year captain and three-year varsity wrestler and served four years on Northern Iowa’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee while earning the university's McCready/Steffensmeier Award for Leadership. Coach Tyson is from Mitchell, S.D. where he was a 4x South Dakota State Finalist and 2x South Dakota High School State Champion.
McDoniel will move to Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors and will still be involved with the wrestling program. McDoniel is moving out-of-state but with the benefit of remote technology, he will still offer assistance to Reiner in helping the Golden Eagle Wrestling Club continue to develop and mentor young wrestlers.
